When you can never have enough monitors an need to add one more old one...

I hate to admit it but I have a bunch of laptops set up all at once and I'm using a bunch of larger monitors that I've picked up cheap from Goodwill over the years. I have lots of ideas and it's easier to switch to another laptop (Identical models with different CPU speeds also used from Ebay for less than $100 generally) than it is to figure out which browser tabs I can close even though I'm in the middle of something else. So when I needed just one more monitor to go with one of the laptops I reached for this. USB-A to DVI and VGA with an adapter. Works great for my applications!

Perfect for older Wacom Cintiq drawing display

I own an older Wacom Cintiq 22 inch (square) monitor I've been using for over a decade, and it is still going strong. Unfortunately, it only connects using DVI or VGA. I prefer DVI over VGA, but it has been difficult to find an adapter that supports the type of DVI connection that has the 4 little pins around the flat bar in the connector, which is what I require. When I saw those pin holes pictured on the product page, I got excited. Finally, I may have found a solution to use the display with my laptop!I wasn't disappointed. The product was exactly as pictured and described, and it works wonderfully well with my Cintiq. I can't express how happy I am that I can finally draw on my screen without it having to be hooked up to my aging desktop computer that for all other uses has been replaced with a laptop. With this adapter, I believe I it will be several years before I am forced to upgrade to a newer drawing display, which can be pretty darn expensive. Thanks, SIIG!

seems to work fine, although..

I was able to plug it in and run my old monitor (2010 Ultra sharp) at 1920x1200x60 on both DVI and VGA. It's pretty simple, and I saw no glitches, visual artifacts, random disconnects, etc.Actually that's not entirely true, I did have a few issues on my 2004 ultrasharp, but as that monitor was also having issues with my older EVGA USB adapter, it's probably failing. If you change monitors/cables while it is plugged in, it won't automatically detect the change and adjust. You will need to remove and reinsert the USB plug (basically restart it). This isn't too surprising, but it could be important if you're using a KVM switch. The device has 3.5mm audio input and output, but this isn't mentioned anywhere and I can't figure out what it's for. It might be useful, if it did something like provide a USB audio device (nothing registers) or could inject audio into the digital stream for hdmi devices. I didn't test it because I didn't want to risk any of my gear. The price seems high for something so simple and of older technology. It's not even dual-link DVI. For less than this you could get an HDMI USB adapter (or maybe a cheap docking station) and then a DVI HDMI adapter.

Sometimes, there are never enough monitors...

I have several other SIIG devices around the house, and they've all performed beyond my expectations. This DVI/VGA adapter is no exception.I currently have 4 monitors in my setup and wanted to add a 5th one in portrait mode to help make document reading and coding more convenient. This adapter connected seamlessly to my dock, and since I already had DisplayLink drivers installed, it had no issues delivering high resolution via DVI to my new portrait-oriented monitor. Excellent value and performance!

Hope it does wise I need

Great product this company is good at delivering niche pc parts with quality .I’m trying to get one of those old budget Korean ips 1440 monitors to work with a newer gpu .These monitors saved money by not having an active osd or soc to control the monitor they need dial link dvi gpu .Adapters usually don’t work unlesss it’s an active adapter .This one looks lie it might be testing will confirm

High quality adapter from SIIG

SIIG might not be a household name but they've earned a solid rep for making very good products. Their products aren't flashy but are essential items such as adapters, switches, splitters, etc. This USB 3.0 to DVI adapter is a case in point. If you've ever tried to add monitors using a cheap, poorly made adapter you understand why quality is essential. Simply put--it just works. Highly recommended!

Successfully converted USB to VGA and DVI-I

If your goal is to use this device to convert USB to VGA, this is the tool for you. I successfully hooked up a VGA monitor to a USB port on my PC - it worked well.If you want to use this to convert USB to DVI, this may not be the device for you. The specifications say you can use up to 6 of these connectors in a single system, meaning you could have up to 6 monitors in a single system. That idea was intriguing to me. So, I took a DVI to HDMI adapter I already had and plugged it into the DVI port in place of SIIG's DVI to VGA adapter and tried to use it to convert USB to HDMI. It failed to show any image on the screen. SIIG does have their own DVI to HDMI adapter, so perhaps that would work, I do not know. I did contact SIIG’s technical support and am working with the support department to try to find out what the problem is. If I get it working, I will update the review. But DVI is supposedly a universal standard, so I am surprised that my current adapter wouldn't have worked.UPDATE: It turned out that my DVI adapter was very old and SIIG's technical support was able to identify that their DVI interface had to use a DIV-I. So, I ordered a new adapter from Amazon (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0BYNM7D7Y), and that adapter worked without problems. So, if your goal is to have up to 6 monitors connected to your system, this very well could be a way to achieve that.
