An external power adapter is included in the package.

Everything is good, worked as expected, bur we bought more powerful external adapter (2 Ah) as we have connected a usb 3.0 device with high power consuption.

So far so good!!

I can extend a webcam with this cable. Other cables failed to give the webcam enough power, bu this one works even without the external power supply.

Edit: DOES NOT WORK WITH VALVE INDEX

My goal in purchasing this cable was to wrap it together with a 20 meter optical DisplayPort cable to make a super long extension for my Valve Index VR headset. The end result was unsatisfactory. I am able to use the headset with no lag, while on a different floor of the house from my PC, but the passthrough cameras do not work. If you're thinking of buying this cable you probably already know most of what you need to know about it, so here are some things I would have liked to know ahead of time:1. There are 'repeaters', little AA battery sized bumps, every 5 meters or so. 3 in total on a 20M cable. Not an issue for me, but if you were trying to run this through a wall or a drilled hole you should make sure this is taken into account. Also, while the edges of them are round, there is a potential for them to snag. My cable is wrapped with another one inside a nylon mesh tube, so that takes care of this issue.2. The cable does come with a power adapter. Didn't see that mentioned but I didn't look very hard and was expecting to have to use an adapter I already had. There was one in the box. Cool.3. You do need the power adapter connected in order to get USB 3.0 speeds.4. You may have to play with it a bit. My initial setup procedure was to plug the male end of the USB cable into the computer, secure the slack, then unspool the cable to where it needed to go and plug the rest of the stuff in. This resulted in the cameras not working. After plugging and unplugging both ends and doing various software resets, I found success a single time by rebooting my computer with everything connected. After that it detected just like I was in front of the PC. After that the cameras never worked again. So be prepared to mess with it, it's not a regular passive extension cable.Overall I definitely give it 4/5 stars. VR headsets are weird creatures, and with both bandwidth and latency sensitivity being very high I'm not that surprised it's tough to find a working solution.

Works exactly as intended, full 3.0 Speeds and VR capable

I bought this cable for using a VR headset, Valve Index, at range and it works perfectly!I got another cable, exchanged even, that couldn't do any more then 2.0 speeds despite its advertising. It's worth it just to grab this one for VR or even full on data transfers like with a portable SSD as I tested it with. Without full 3.0 speed the cameras on the Index don't work for the pass through and safety net.

Great cable for photography, but...

I love this cable. I use it to shoot commercial photography jobs in studio and on location. The major problem however is the cheap plastic that houses the usb connection. I’ve ordered this cable four times. It inevitably gets stepped on and screwd up the connector. Still best for connecting my camera to my laptop.

The ONLY cable which works!

The only active repeater cable which actually works. And it's 33ft! I've tried a pretty much all the other active repeater USB3.0 cables on Amazon (Cable Matters, CableCreation, UGREEN, TNP, etc, most of them 25ft) and NONE of them could sustain a data transfer of an ISO to a USB 3.0 flash drive without disconnecting in the middle of the transfer. I guess you get what you pay for.

This cable works perfectly.

This cable works perfectly. I use it to control my telescope USB3 camera (ASI 1600MM-Cool). I have a USB3 hub on my mount, so no external power adapter needed. I run my entire mount over this cable (Camera, guider, filter wheel, motor focuser, mount). Not one issue at all so far after 2 months of use.The active end of the cable seems a bit loose (although never any issue) so I would recommend being very careful not to twist this. I secured the active unit and a short USB3 cable in a small box to protect it. They could have secured this better IMO, but I'll overlook it because the cable works so well.

I have tried 4 different cables on Amazon to run ...

I have tried 4 different cables on Amazon to run my Logitech c920 webcam and this is the ONLY cable out of the four that did the job. I have tried the various TNP USB Extension Cables and others and they seemed to work intermittently, or some of the functionality of the device was unreliable or didn't recognize the camera, but this one does the job and it does it flawlessly. I am impressed. Thank you!10/23/2017 UPDATE: for some odd reason (and I didn't notice this when I posted my original review on this product) I have to unplug and re-plug in the webcam when I do a restart of the computer. I must unplug the peripheral at the webcam side of the usb and this happens about 90% of the time in order for the PC to recognize the camera. It is a Logitech webcam. I am still impressed that this is the only cord that I could get to work.10/15/2020 UPDATE: Upgrading from Windows 7 to Windows 10 about a year ago seemed to resolve the 10/23/2017 issue (above). Works flawlessly since upgrading.

Great for webcams!

Great for HD webcams. Hooked up our Logitech c930 w/o any issues. Comes with aux power just in case you need more power for your run / device. High quality cabling and fit / finish.

Great Alternative to Cornings Optical Cable

Highly recommend this cable! After dealing with constant RMA's for cornings optical cables, I decided to try this and this works beautifully! Bought the 15-Meter cable and it does come with a power adapter! In my situation I don't have to use the included power adapter. I have the cable hooked up to a powered usb hub and I still get 90MB/s transfer speeds.

Great full length powered USB 3.0 extender

Works great!. Switched from trying several USB 2.0 extenders and the USB 3.0 extender fixed reliability issue. Been running Anker 7 port USB 3.0 hub that is running observatory camera, mount, filter wheel, focuser, dew heater and two relays.

Top notch UBS 3 cable, bit pricy but worth it

High quality cable: this is one of the best USB active repeater cables we have purchased so far. It’s expensive, but worth the cost. We ran the full length from the office room to the living and connected the performance PC with the HDLinks DVR – all USB 3.0 connections, to transfer high def files. The transfer rate is unbelievable.

Works perfectly.

I bought the 20m long one for use with my HTC Vive Virtual Reality system so I could leave my PC in my office and use my lounge as the playspace. It works perfectly and I didn't even need to use the power supply that comes with the cable.

Daisy Chain Successful

We needed to extend a webcam, which luckily for us was only USB 2.0, so I bought two of these in the hopes of daisy chaining them. This cable does come with an AC adapter, but when using with 2.0 technology it is not necessary. The active booster being in the middle of the cable is a great design, and comes in handy when you FORGET TO ACCOUNT FOR THE EXTRA 3 FEET of cable that I already had going to the USB wall jack.As I mentioned, I was able to successfully daisy chain two of these cables WITHOUT needing the AC adapters to use my Logitech c920 webcam. The price is a little high, hence the missing star, but in a pinch, this will do just fine.(I did test this cable with USB 3.0 (particularly a BlackMagic video capture device, and you DO need the AC adapters to pull off a seamless USB 3.0 connection, even with only one cable.)

worked- and thats a good thing since I purchased it for a new tech usb3 camera and was not entirely sure it would, alternative from my AV consultant was using $600 Extron cat6 converter Balums and I did not want to do that, so this 'working' was a big deal- thanks
