      Very Nice KVM Works smoothly

KVM works exactly how I needed it to very little lag switching.

Specific for Server rooms & DVI setups

I picked this up to use on a rack with some servers that have DVI & VGA output (DVI to VGA adapters worked) so that I could switch between them when I needed to do "console" work. This KVM switch works fine for those tasks and has "long" cables that fit in between the servers.Overall I am happy with this switch because it does what I need, but anyone who wants to use this needs to have DVI or VGA outputs.

It's big. It's heavy. It works.

This KVM switch is for using one display with a DVI connection with two other computers. The computers must also have a DVI connection as well. With this switch you can use one keyboard, mouse, display, and anything else connected to the box between two different computers without having to manually switch everything over. This switch is big and heavy. I have another KVM switch that can connect to four computers and it is lighter than this thing. I don't know if that means it is super heavy duty rugged or if someone did not bother to make the thing lighter, but beware it is heavy. You won't want to be moving this thing around at all.The switch has 4 USB 3.0 ports and two USB 2.0 ports. You are supposed to connect your keyboard and mouse to the 2.0 ports and then the other things you want to connect to the other ports. I use a mechanical keyboard and gaming mouse and they don't work in the 2.0 ports. They do work in the 3.0 ports, but I get an error in Windows that a connected device is drawing too much power when I have them connected. So mechanical keyboard users and gaming mouse users beware if you want to use them with this switch. No drivers are needed. It is truly plug and play which is a big plus. There are buttons that you use on the front to switch inputs and it works fine. You can also use a hot key combination but I was not able to get that to work with my setup. This KVM switch will get the job done. It works as advertised. Just be aware that mechanical keyboards and gaming peripherals may not play nice with this unit.

Dual Towers with One Set of Inputs

I have noticed that the size of this device is an issue. It is not a port for multiple USB devices to branch out of it. It is designed to run two towers. If you are running a Mac and a PC on the same office desk like I do, you know what I am talking about! That means two keyboards, two mouse (mice?), and if you are artistic, two drawing pads.If you want to edit video from a PC to a Mac and back and forth, then this is for you. A simple hotkey or a press of the button allows me to run Vegas and garage band at the same time… Virtually seamless! There are some downsides to this box, but for the value they can’t have a single star taken away. For example, it needs cables… DVI digital video interface cable to be exact. So, if your monitor is a HDMI TV, then you’re going to need a converter cable. Other than cables, this box is a solid piece of tech, and does exactly what it says.

      Good, But...

I'm sure there will be other reviews that can really dig into the technical specs of this unit. That's really not my area of expertise. The first thing I noticed about this unit is the size. It's much larger and heavier than I expected. This might be an issue if your job requires you to be mobile and you have to lug your equipment around. Other than that, it works well. I recommend it if the size isn't an issue for you. Thanks so much for taking the time to read this review. I hope the information that I've provided helps make your decision a little easier.
