SIIG Announces New Line of DisplayPort Cables!
(Fremont, California; January 11, 2008) SIIG, the market leader in I/O connectivity products (including Serial ATA and Ultra ATA Controllers, FireWire, USB, serial/parallel I/O, etc.) and accessories is proud to announce the upcoming release of a variety of DisplayPort cables for use with the latest digital displays.
New Digital Audio/Video Standard
Designed to be the standard digital interface between computers and digital monitors, DisplayPort is expected to replace DVI and VGA ports by late 2008. Some of the highlights of the new DisplayPort standard include:
- • Designed for digital connection of the latest computer systems & monitors, providing high-resolution video, greater color depth, higher refresh rates and faster data transfer speeds
- • Smaller connector footprint than DVI or VGA, enabling a better fit for laptops and other small devices
- • Supports high resolution display up to 2560x1600 (WQXGA)
- • Supports a maximum data rate of up to 10.8 Gigabit/sec
- • Able to support full digital audio (up to 8 channels) in the same cable
- • Supports DPCP (DisplayPort Content Protection) and HDCP (High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection)
SIIG is expected to be one of the first manufacturers to offer DisplayPort cables to the public, giving users the ability to purchase extended lengths and replacement cables. SIIG will offer a variety cable length options, ranging from 1 meter to 5 meters (3.3 feet to 16.4 feet) and prices ranging from $49.99 to $119.99. The first cables are expected to be available by late Q1 of 2008.
